ABOUT
Karin Lustenberger ist Medienkünstlerin, Performerin, Kuratorin, Kulturvermittlerin, Forscherin und Care-Aktivistin. Sie lebt und arbeitet in Basel, Schweiz.
In ihrer künstlerisch-forschenden Praxis untersucht sie das generative Potenzial konkreter Umgebungen mittels audiovisueller, performativer und installativer Methoden. Auf der Grundlage von Strukturen und Systemen sowie algorithmischen, sensorbasierten und zufallsbasierten Prozessen entwickelt sie dynamische Wahrnehmungskonstrukte, die etablierte Formen von Beobachtung, Vermittlung und Wissensproduktion hinterfragen.
Ihre Arbeiten verbinden Performance, Installation und Multimedia und integrieren kamera- und sensorgestützte Praktiken, Klang, Raum, Robotik sowie algorithmische Logiken. Daraus entstehen reflektierende Perspektiven und explorative Erfahrungsräume an der Schnittstelle von Mensch, Technik und Umwelt.
Ihr aktueller Forschungsschwerpunkt liegt auf sozialen Gaps in posthumanistischen Diskursen sowie auf feministischen Arbeits- und Care-Strukturen. Darüber hinaus ist sie kuratorisch in interdisziplinären Projekten tätig und engagiert sich für Gleichberechtigung und Nachhaltigkeit in kulturellen und technologischen Transformationsprozessen. Seit 2022 ist sie Teil des Kernteams des Netzwerks art+care Schweiz.
Karin Lustenberger is a media artist, performer, curator, cultural mediator, researcher, and care activist. She lives and works in Basel, Switzerland.
In her artistic-research practice, she investigates the generative potential of concrete environments through audiovisual, performative, and installation-based methods. Drawing on structures and systems as well as algorithmic, sensor-based, and chance-driven processes, she develops dynamic constructs of perception that question established modes of observation, mediation, and knowledge production.
Her works combine performance, installation, and multimedia, integrating camera- and sensor-based practices, sound, space, robotics, and algorithmic logics. From these constellations emerge reflective perspectives and exploratory experiential spaces at the intersection of human, technological, and environmental relations.
Her current research focuses on social gaps within posthumanist discourses as well as on feminist labor and care structures. In addition to her artistic and research practice, she works curatorially across interdisciplinary projects and is engaged in issues of equality and sustainability within cultural and technological transformation processes. Since 2022, she has been part of the core team of the art+care Switzerland network.
